Frequently Asked Questions
What is take-home salary?
Take-home salary is what you actually receive after deductions — your SSF contribution, income tax, and any other deductions — are subtracted from your gross salary.
Is my employer’s SSF contribution deducted from my salary?
No. The employer’s SSF contribution is paid by your employer on top of your salary. It is never deducted from your take-home pay. Only your own SSF contribution (11% of basic salary) comes out of your salary.
How is salary tax calculated in Nepal?
Nepal uses progressive tax slabs. Your annual taxable income (salary minus allowed deductions) is taxed at rates that rise with income. Monthly TDS is your annual tax divided by 12. The exact slabs depend on the fiscal year.
Are absent days automatically unpaid?
No. The calculator never assumes an absence is unpaid on its own. You can choose how unpaid leave is deducted in the advanced options, or leave it to your employer’s rule.
Is this 100% accurate?
No calculator can promise that. The tool uses verified SSF and tax rules where possible, and clearly marks anything that still needs verification. Always confirm with your employer or IRD Nepal.
